Successful & Miserable? (Podcast)
Join me and my fabulous colleague, Rachel Walker WPCC, on her “Is it normal…?” podcast as we unpack the relationship and disconnect of success and joy in today’s world.
If you’re “successful” you should be joyful, right? Not always, in my experience. Sadly, not often either.
I kinda know what I’m talking about because I lived it. Successful by all external and societal measures and downright miserable.
In this lively discussion (I could listen just for Rachel’s British accent) we cover:
How appearances can be deceiving.
Defining success
Is success a societal problem?
Your body knows success
The elements of joyful success
‘For me a lot of it had to do with low self-worth, and feeling like I wasn’t good enough just by being. And I think that’s a symptom of society really – for some reason we have to produce something of ‘value’ in order to be valued ourselves. And so we do things that will make us successful, but won’t necessarily make us happy. So I did a lot of work around self-esteem, letting go of what other people thought, and learning that it’s actually none of my business.’ Janine
Have a listen and let me know what you think. Do you agree? What’s your definition of success?
While you’re at it, check out Rachel’s amazing work as a relationship coach with Courageously You. Being successful in relationships is a big part of the human experience (and maybe the most challenging!).
